Anybody here fish the James north of Buchanan, Va. We used to take the Arcadia exit off of 81 and fished below the bridge where Jennings Creek ran into the James. Usually fished it in April and May.
The cooler water coming in from Jennings Creek made for some interesting fishing at that spot. You could catch trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, channel cats and bluegill in an area about a 100 yards long where the creek came in. We used hellgramites and crayfish that we seined or Mepps spinners. This was close to 40 years ago. Just curious if it's still good fishing there.

the james is has suffered some pretty bad fishkills due to farm fertilzer run off(human and poulty litter) we usually do well in that area ,but this year the water level has been so low we just can't run the jetboat . i did catch a few muskies up there in early spring ,just above buchanan.one 38in. go to www.riversmallies.com and post this question. there are some guys on that live near there. srwshooter
