Putting them together resembled sex with a spastic! I've always wanted a pair of those rings, but, holy moly! they were a handful to keep together and get lined up. Got any tips to make the next pair easier to handle??? Please.

Take the pair off and do it again and again until you get it right. Kind of like sex and you will not be as spastic

Start with your rifle in a good rest...
Sit the Back half's(the side without screws) on the table and then lay the scope in the rings, then place the front half's on and get the screws just past started.
Lightly squeeze the bottoms of the rings so the silver recoil lugs don't fall out and then sit on the bases. You will obviously have to release your tension on the bottoms so the rings will slide on to the bases.
Then once you have it roughly lined up tighten the bottom screws. You should tighten the at least 60% of what you will eventually torque them to, if they are loose it will be very hard to mount your scope. Be sure though that your top screws are just started and very loose.
Then you will adjust your scope for cant and slight eye-relief adjustments.
Finish tightening the bottom screws then walk the top screws in a little at a time and don't tighten over 20in/lbs.
Most have trouble there first time and until they learn the secret. I have put probably close to 100 scopes in Warne rings and can do it in no time and have better sucess in the cant not moving when I am tightening the screws than I do with other styles and brands

Once you mount warne rings a few times they are very easy, one of the best mounts I have ever seen, very strong and they don't mark up your scope

I install a lot of scopes for friends & personally use & recommend Warne rings. I obtained spare springs & screws no charge from the factory & can refurbish older & often abused rings. I use only removable rings & can carry a spare scope on guided hunts. Return to zero is within an inch & frequently dead on.

It's worth the trouble to mess with them. When you get done, you have a really good mounting system. Actually once you put on a few it gets a little easier.

Thanks. I really like the look and feel of the product. Quality wasn't the issue; my inexperience was. I plan to get some more of these in the future. I, too, have seen the light with removable scope/ring/base combinations.
My love affair with the Redfield JR stuff is over...I just hope the next removal process goes better than this last one on my Remington 700/7mm. It took 30 minutes and some serious hammer/torx work to get this base off the rifle! Fortunately, the scope base holes weren't damaged.
I've still got a Marlin 1895 with a nice JR/bottom-screw mount/rings to remove. Nice setup, but I don't want this problem again! There's the 7400/.30-06 Carbine and an XP-100R/.223 after that and I'll be done with the JR's. I've found some EGW Picatinny bases for the 1895 & 7400 guns on the Midway site. I'll need to look for a base for the XP-100R.

Yo tbear, I just tried a new scope on my Tikka. I ran out of vertical adjustment and I'm still 10" high away from POI. Bushnell told me to shim it. Can I shim these Maxima Rings to get more adjustment? If so how do I do it. It's a Bushnell Legend 4-12 X 40 and I like it, but I might have to try another one. I don't have mounts on this rifle. The rings mount directly to the Tikka rail. I appreciate any help. Thanks
