Howdy,

I don't see the answer to this question in the FAQ list, but it probably has been covered before. I need a set of Weaver-type rings that will stand up to quite a bit of recoil. The wrap-around style Weavers are letting the scope slip back and the tightening bolts are loosening with every other shot. I haven't used Locktight yet - was wanting better performance before I did that. Who makes the strongest rings for my Weaver mount? Thanks very much. Dave

The only time I have seen Weavers let a scope slide was a case of lapping taken way too far...

A piece of friction tape on the bottom half of each ring would likely cure your problem. The screws are likely worn out, as the holes in the aluminum bottom ring half are almost certainly. Lock-tite will probably fix that, but I would chuck the rings and start over.

Burris makes zee rings with plastic inserts that are probably the cheapest thing that will do exactly what you want...

Thanks Art. The rings are brandy new. Are those Burris rings tough? The rig I'm shooting is a 375 H&H in an Encore pistol with a brake. I really need something tough. Thanks again.

I would think they will work just fine, yes they are tough. You can get stronger, as in Badger, but not for the money.

I use the Burris Zee without the inserts on a very light 338-08. They have been rock solid to date. Also, some handgunners I know have used the Weaver 4x4 rings or Weaver Grand Slam rings with success.

A .375 H&H in an encore??.....Yikes!!....I hope that brake works.....

Oh yeah......I hope your ear protection works well too.....

Correct my Spanish if incorrect, but isn't "cajones" the word you want? Even if I am all wet, that much hand gun might just scramble the juevos...

You may want to give the warne maxima rings a look. Not too expensive and built like a tank. The recoil lug on the underside could almost pass for an I-beam. Aint got nothin that rocks like that encore but have never had a problem with them on my savage 300wsm.

Burris plastic insert rings are tough. I use DD bases though. 30-378 w/brake, 6.5x20 LRT (20 oz) hanging on top, not reduced loads.....

Thanks everybody for the thoughts. I'll check out the Burris and the Warne rings. This barrel is pretty interesting, and I was happy to stop shooting after 15 rounds with it. The 375 isn't a out-of-this world jump for me since I have a 338 WM barrel for the Encore that I shoot quite a bit. This new barrel is most definitely at another level though; my shooting sessions are going to be short with it for a while. Thanks again.
