Wow, Dave!!! That hurt I'm sure, kiddo just finished reading that story with me and said Dave did a wabo.

I shot a 16 through the top of my left hand all the way from the edge of the thumb to the pinky bone under the skin. Did that while building one of her classmates parents house's. Puting the stair framing in on the rail boy that did bleed too, drove myself to the docs and they used a pliers to pull it. I laughed and said I could have done that and fainted...lol..

No kiddin fell to the floor at the sight of my own blood in that amount, even my being an EMT/Firefighter at that time and I couldn't do my own blood without fainting. Others never bothered me much..lol..

Thanks for all the fun making me remember, now ya gotta help TZone on some orange can emptying on that one for me...lol

Kiddo Really enjoyed all the camp pics on the other thread too by the way, she is also wanting a 99 or two now as she says Grogel Deluxe must mean 99's are Deluxe rifles... Me I said you got that right I want about 199 of the 99's.... wink

you got that right about the 99's, I want one too.

shot a nail through yer dang hand? youch!! LOL!!

Well I did pas out from blood loss once in fairfax county VA. Young marine found himself in a hell of a scrap at a party. i got pushed through a patio door window, a slider.

it was open. the problem was I went through the closed part!!

I got cut up bad, glass sucks.

biggest piece of tempered glass was a long thin shard the size of a butter knife & it was stuck in my face. it was stuck in hard like if you stabbed a knife into a block of wood, the shard protruded up & outward from the right side of the upper bridge of my nose. My nose was busted & laid over to the left side. the largest glass shard created a new breathing hole for me between my right eye & my right nostril. When I exhaled i sprayed blood out of the new hole in my face like a whale blow hole.

This was the main attraction or main feature to my new facial deformation, it was accented by probably a hundred smaller glass cuts that just left my face weeping with blood.

Well, I'm not a big guy, never been a big guy, but I was a very angry average sized guy with some pretty sharp boxing skills at the time & a fully lit raging temper...

So, I went through the place & cleaned house. kind of over did it actually. I could only see out of my left eye because my right eye vision was blocked by a bloody shard of glass stuck in my face. police & ambulance sirens were getting closer as the last man fell. They were loading beaten bullies into ambulances as i got into our rental car with my friends who so kindly drove me to the "good hospital"

I was in fair spirits when we arrived, at the er desk i jokingly requested "a room for the night"

I was quite a sight.

I was rushed onto a gurney (spelling?) where i was instructed to lay rather than to sit as i was told i had lost a lot of blood & may pass out.

"oh I'm not going to pass..."

zonk.

nap time, next thing I remember a doc is finishing up sewing my face back together.

they did a good job.

most folks don't even notice grin

god I'm glad I'm just an old dummy now instead of a young dummy.
big difference. grin

oops...

I'm a bit numb as to how I may come across at times when simply reciting history as i know it.

I should also add, I didn't start that fight, never have started a fight & for nearly 18 years straight now, I have managed to stay out of any sort of fight. (well except for that gulf war thing, but again, I didn't start that either grin )

But after that was over, I was done with all fighting.

So, no i'm not like that any more. smile I'm quite the opposite really.

I was just telling an old story about passing out, related to the topic of blood & stuff... or at least that's what I meant to do.

I'm no longer a fighter, and i do not encurage fighting.

I'm a stronger, more confident & fulfilled person today for my comitment to avoid fighting if at all possible.

I just wanted to be clear on that.

I was just poking fun at myself for geting hurt & passing out, wasn't intended as a tough guy story, i don't care for that sort of thing.

kids especially, keep that in mind if you read this. fighting proves nothing except how foolish you were growing up.

that's the truth.
grin

Uh,Dave...watch out for that door.
Good story.Knowing how you feel about Winchester 88's I wanted to relate yesterday's happening to you.I work part time in a pawn/gun shop.A guy walked in yesterday with two rifles he wanted to sell. This gent has sold us a few rifles before and they are always primo plus. One of the ones yesterday was a Model 88 in .308 with the original post and crosshair Lyman scope. The doggone rifle looked as good as it did the day it left the factory. The scope even had the original see thru scope cover.I think this one is going on Gunbroker. It's always so nice to see a very well cared for older rifle or pistol.

i'm pretty sure this is what I will start out carrying this year for deer in MN. My M70 FWT in 30-06 is taken apart right now. I gave up my rings & bases for my boy's M70 so mine sit's scopeless at the moment.

Good reason for the 88 to swing into action. grin

Wabo,

I'll keep prayin for ya, and I can get more beer. Get that litte girl heal up. It's more imporntant than anything else.

If it is any help, tell her big tough ol Tzone would rather have a broken rib than get a shot and get poked with needles. Yes, I've had all of the above. I HATE THOSE NEEDLES.

I hope you guys get this stuff figured out. Truly.

Tom

Boy it looks like I missed a lot last night.

Dave, you're one tough son of a gun to clean house with glass sticking out of your face. I've done plenty of fightin' but if a dude was coming at me with a shrad of glass sticking out of his eye....HE WINS. I'm done at that point, theres nothing more I could add at that point, and he's srue as hell tougher n me.

Next time, use the open part of the door.

That 88's lookin good. Is it going to action next week? Are you packed and ready?

I've been putting all the prep work off until yesterday, because mama was supposed to come home from her busniess trip, but she got stuck in Cali. So now I'll be scrambling.

shoot I aint started packing yet.

but most of my junk including my orange deer fighting costume is out at the shack already. My priorities are as follows.

Get my oldest boys rifle sighted in & have him shoot it a little more, this time out of the rest & over a bag.

brace up Pam's enclosed deer stand, camo burlap it & get a heater in there for her.

mow a couple shooting lanes up by my nephew's new enclosed stand

check on my portable stands scattered about the forest.

and ... maybe some time to have a couple of beers & relax a bit.

June is for weddings. April and May are for turkey hunting. My other favorite sport.

its just not right to have to go through all that torture!! It better be all well worth while if i got to do that wedding and waste a good part of my day doing something i really would rather not do. I mean i could be socializing with ND over a fresh brewsky since i missed out last weekend. A guy should know better ecspecially this time of year! its pretty much like castrating that bull, poor feller!!

WOW, Here I am at work where it's almost a forbidden topic to talk hunting or even where the camo, well a new Gorgeous 28 year old blond sits down with me in the break room. I ask her about her plans and she mentions going to deer camp, I bout fell over.

If I wasn't happily married I believe I'd be chasing this..lol.. After awhile she describes a log cabin and many guys in her family bowhunting at the place this weekend. This makes only 3 true camps that I know of in the state.

It was a Nice break from the normal liberal talk the place usually has. Especially with all the things going on in my life right now, I haven't wanted to dwell on it but I'm down to one 30 acre pasture with a small draw to hunt in now. All the ground I usually hunt has been leased. So inbetween talking to docs for kiddo I've also been calling or chasing down landowners trying to find new ground.

So this was a Welcomed discussion with a Nice lady in a place I didn't think I'd ever talk hunting. Deer Camp wow it says it all...

I may just be moving my camp north soon to some public ground where I have a friend who owns some land to hunt on up there as well. Its about 50 miles from home so it may not happen this year, but the seeds are being sewn for a New frontier to be pioneered into a new group of friends where else but at deer camp.. Happy Halloween guys I just got a treat for the day and I hope you all do too...

Happy halloween to you to wabo. Don't worry about having only 30 acres to hunt on wabo, it's better that not being able to hunt.

Many a big bucks have been killed on less land. You never know what that rut might bring by ya.

Take care, and get that little girl healed up.

Oh yeah, ask that hot little blond chick if she'd like to hunt in WI. I have just the spot for her. grin

It'll be a different kind of rut. grin
