A couple of things. I have a speaking relationship with a state senator. I am going to propose to him that our state (Oregon) have a mutual agreement with other states to honor each others concealed weapons permits. Also I believe that Arizona, for one, has a law or policy that prevents a person from being sued in civil court after being found not guilty in a self-defense shooting or after not being indicted or charged but found that a shooting was in self-defense. The defense costs in a criminal trial I understand run in the neighborhood of over $100,000, which would put a large hole in most peoples net worth. A civil lawsuit by the friends of family of the "victim" would just about administer the financial coup de grace to most folks. I try to avoid situations as best as possible where one would be required to defend one's self or family, but in today's world is difficult at times. Just curious if anyone has any info on this.

Happy Trails!

Here are samples in the Federal arena;

H.R. 648 (Wilson): This bill would reaffirm the right of Americans to use firearms (1) for the defense of themselves and their families, (2) for defense against a violent felony, and (3) for defense of one's home.

H.R. 915 (Stearns): This bill would allow national concealed carry reciprocity for persons possessing a concealed carry license. It would not benefit states like Vermont that allow concealed carry without a license.

H.R. 990 (Hostettler, Hayworth, Davis (VA), Crane, Doolittle, Wamp, Otter, Gibbons, Lewis (KY), Ney, Cannon, Goode, Boucher, Souder, Peterson (PA), Goodlatte, Hall, Aderholt, English, Bishop (GA), Musgrave, Pence, Bradley (NH)): This bill would allow national concealed carry reciprocity, and is "Vermont-friendly."
