My absolute first handgun was a 6" S&W M19.
My first auto pistol was a Ruger MKI 6 7/8" Target cusomized by Jim Clark. Mine, purchased by me new in 1980, was a Ruger Speed Six. It is now in the possession of my mother, who keeps it loaded for home security. It's been hers for many years now. I was 19 when I "bought" it, but the laws in New York at the time didn't permit me to purchase a handgun till I was 21, even though I had a license to own and carry a handgun concealed. The solution was that a cop purchased it for me (after I gave him a "gift" of the purchase price), and then he "gifted" it to me. I was allowed to receive a handgun as a gift, but not to purchase one. Complicated, I know. My first auto (1981) was a Colt Mark IV, Series 70 Government Model.

The first pistol I shot was my grandmother's pre-Colt Woodsman. At age 14 I got my first trapline .22, a used S&W Combat Masterpiece .22. That was swapped for a Ruger flat top .357 which quickly went for an origial pre-19 Combat Magnum. My first new gun purchased at age 15 with money playing rock & roll was my second trapline .22, a S&W Model 34 Kit gun which I still own 47 years later. Life was differen't in the early 60s...

First handgun I ever shot was my Dad's FN made-under-German occupation High Power.
I shot a Ruger .22 Mk I standard 4" auto quite a bit that was borrowed from a friend of the family on "extended loan" for several years.
First .45 auto I ever shot was an old Remington Rand GI 1911A1.
First pistol of my very own that I bought for myself was the Pre-70 Colt Government Model I posted about in the "I love 1911s" thread.
I still have the High Power, Remington Rand, and Pre-70 Colt.

H&R 999 top break 9 shot revolver was the first handgun I ever shot. It was owned by a guy whose mother or fater was somehow related to Kit Carson or Buffalo Bill -- about a year later I was the proud owner of a S&W M&P Model 10 in .38 Spcl -- it cost about$30.
First semi auto was a 1911 A1 Remington Rand that I bought from a pawn shop for 40 bucks.
Boy, that brought back some long forgotten memories.

First handgun I bought was a .357 Ruger Blackhawk revolver. I traded that for a Browning BHP and then I bought a Ruger Single Six, which was subsequently stolen. Then I bought a Ruger Standard Model and then......

Let's see first hand gun, that must have been a Ruger Semi Auto at the firing range at Navy Boot Camp in 1958. The second would have had to be 1911 Colt 45ACP also while in the Navy and the third would have to .38 Sevice Revlover also while in the Navy as I had to qulify on both the .45 & .38 every six months in the service.
Now the first handgun I owned was a S&W "J" Frame in .32 Spl followed soon after by a Ruger Security Six .357 in 4" Barrel, paid $97.00 for it NIB.

First handgun I ever owned was a Dan Wesson 6" 15-2VH .357 that I still have. I'm thinking the first auto may have been that 1911 I blew up but I'm not positive I didn't have something before that.

I've got a safe full of rifles and shotguns, as well as corners of different rooms, and a few closets with long guns leaning here and there, but up until a week ago didn't own a pistol. Old college roommate was looking to upgrade to a new Springfield XD(m), so I bought his older Springfield XD .40. Probably haven't shot a box of shells out a pistol in my life, will change that in the coming weeks.

My first handgun was a single shot Stevens tip up .22 when I was 8, sure shot a bunch of rabbit, squirrels and tin cans with that baby. First semi-auto was a Colt 1903 pocket .32. I was mostly a revolver guy then, still am in fact, but needed something small and flat for real hidden carry. I still have the Colt and my soon to be 18 grandson has the Stevens and still shoots it, even lets grandpa pop a few through it once and awhile.
