First handgun was a 60s vintage single six when I was 10 or 11, with dual cylinders and a drift adjustable rear sight. I let it go in a trade when I was 16 or so. Recently, I found another early model to replace it.
My first semi was an original 1911 given to me by a WWI vet for services rendered mowing his lawn for a summer back when I was 15 or so. Came with the original holster stamped 1918 inside the flap with his initials. One magazine was still loaded with ball ammo! In a fit of conscience, the old guy had ground off the "Property of the US Government" stamp on one side of the frame...so its collector's value was somewhat diminished. But, it was the first gun I carried as a deputy sheriff, cocked and locked! It was fun putting it back into service!

BMT upped the stakes by adding in single action/double action
My first single action revolver was an Interarms Virginian Dragoon, stainless in .44 mag. Very nice gun, wish I still had it.
My first double action auto was a Taurus 92 in 9mm. That gun had a very hard life and never failed to shuck a shell. Great pistol.

My first SA revolver was a Ruger "Convertible" Six, and my first SA/DA pistol was a S&W Model 59. The M59 was also the first firearm I bought myself. My Dad was a gun collector, and he liked me for some dang reason, so I was completely spoiled in the firearms department. By the way, Dad thought the M59 was a piece of crap. What can I say? A kid has to do what a kid has to do.

First handgun was an H&R model 949 .22. Second was an Interarms Virginian Dragoon .45 Colt. Third was a Smith and Wesson model 19 and fourth a Colt Trooper Mk. III, both in .357. I then got a Super Blackhawk .44 Mag. and after that, finally, my first Auto, a brand-new Colt Mk.IV, Series 70 Government in 45ACP.

My first handgun was a single shot Stevens tip up .22 when I was 8, sure shot a bunch of rabbit, squirrels and tin cans with that baby. Seems like last week, doesn't it? Yep, the older I get the fonder the memories of those care free days!

Thanks. A lot have come and gone over the years. I have made some astounding trades and some real chokers. Without trading guns though, I'd never have been able to sample the wide variety that I have. Every batch of guns I have is going to be the ones that are permanent. hehheh

My first handgun was also a revolver and that is the way to go for the first one IMHO. My first Semi Auto was a M-39 S&W, when I got a 1911 I was in heaven..
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

First handgun I ever fired must have been my father's High Standard G-380. First I ever owned myself was a Walther P-38. First I ever owned that I ever shot much was a Ruger .22 auto, first revolver was a Ruger Redhawk.

My first handgun was a H&R 922
My first semi-auto was a Colt's 1911 US Army made in 1913.Still have it.
Traded the H&R for a Gerber skinning knife with a stag handle, still have it.
First handgun every to shoot was my Dad's Walther P-38. I was 10 at the time. Dad traded that P-38 with 50 dollars to boot for a car. The car was an old 34 Ford. Back then things were different.

My first handgun is a 9mm German Luger pistol in a hard case leather flap holster, with extra mag, and take-down tool- that my father brought back from WWII. He also brought back a leather Shoulder-Holster, and a beautiful Western Style Holster with bold stitching- both holsters were specially made for a Luger.
My first revolver is a Colt Officers Model Match, 22 LR, I bought at K-Mart in 1971.

At 17 I bought a Single-Six convertible. At 19 I bought a S&W Model 27-2.
When I became old enough to legally buy them, I really had fun.

Absolute first handgun was a Hy-Score air pistol in 1950. First cartridge handgun was a 7 1/2" barrel 44Spl Colt New Service in absolute mint condition with holster which was suede lined and very nice. This was in 1951 next was a S&W 3 1/2" custom ordered 357 model 27 in 1952. Strictly an easy ride from then on. Have probably owned one of whatever has been made since then it seems.
