I've been doing a little comparison work lately with my Promaster and some top end binoculars. I'll post about that later. I have to say that the binocular among the expensive glass that impressed me the most is the Steiner x44 XP binocular. The one I looked at was priced at $1,300. There is not much love for the Steiner binoculars, so some people will tend to go "gaaaag!" at that particular recommendation. Still it is easily a top end alpha quality binocular and has a hell of a lot to recommend it. It fits optically with the best. Ergonomically it has to be my favorite. Anyway, do not be afraid to take a look at one.
Other than that I second Frank D's and Daveh's recomendation. Steve, couldn't agree more with the suggestion of the Steiner Peregrine XP's. The reason people "gaaaag" is that their mind's are closed to the possibility that Steiner is capable of making an Alpha bino. They are and they do. The Peregrine is also a very nice bino. I just sold my standard Peregrine's to a Campfire member.

IT WAS A GREAT DEAL hi I compared the Zeiss and Leica 8 x 42's and found the Zeiss glass fit my eyes better as you did with the 10 x 42's congratulations to you, and Doug is a good guy to deal with. I am still in the market for a reasonable 8 x 32 however for those days you have to travel light

I really like the Zeiss Victory FLs. To my eyes and hands, the best. Your experience may be different. Be sure to look through them all before you buy.

I recently bought the "salesman samples" zeiss fl 8x42 from doug for 1189.00$ I dont know what the salesman did with them, but he didn't break the seal on the box! They are new, awesome glass and everybody that looks through them says something like "holy ****, those are the brightest clearest binos I have ever seen". I love 'em.
