I have one of the last Canjar triggers made for my tang-safety Ruger M77. Unfortunately, the set trigger on my Canjar has a history of misfiring.

My Canjar trigger was originally installed several years ago by my gunsmith, the late Norm Thompson of Monument, Colorado. When I arrived to pick up my rifle, I asked Mr. Thompson to dry-fire it. He set the trigger and pulled the hair trigger. It misfired. I promptly had Mr. Thompson replace the Canjar trigger with the stock Ruger trigger.

Just last year, I asked the Colorado School of Trades in Lakewood, Colorado, to reinstall the Canjar trigger. At the firing range, it misfired after several shots. I sent my rifle to Ruger and again my Canjar trigger is being replaced with a stock trigger.

Can I please get Canjar owners to speak up about which rifles their triggers are installed in, how often their set triggers misfire, and if they have been successful in fixing the problem?

That would be hard to do, as Mary closed the doors forever not but a few years ago. I don't think Mary was ever and Internet fan in the first place.

Mr. pjf;
Im going on a somewhat foggy memory here, but about 20 years ago a varmint shooting partner had a tang model Ruger 77 in .220 Swift that had a Canjar set trigger installed in it.

If memory serves, when it was set past a certain setting, I think on the lighter pull side, it would occasionally misfire.

Im sorry that I cant recall exactly which setting it was to remove the problem, but I do believe we were able to adjust it so it was 100% reliable.

I hope that helped somewhat and good luck with your trigger.

Regards,
Dwayne

I had a canjar installed on an 30-06 Tang safety Ruger 77 by Garfield Gunsmithing,Garfield< New Jersey. Never had a problem with the set trigger. I know they installed a slew of those triggers when I had mine done and they may be able to help you out.(973) 478-0171

Thanks for the assistance.

I verified the telephone number for Garfield Gunsmithing on the web and called it but the telephone is disconnected. I also called directory assistance but unfortunately there is no listing for Garfield Gunsmith or Garfield Gunsmithing in or near Garfield, NJ.

I appreciate the help but it looks like Canjar-knowledgeable gunsmiths are disappearing.
