I looked into the cost of the tubing, and the labor involved. Then I realized commercial bullets are pretty cheap. I could see if you had an oddball chambering or big bore that had expensive hard to come by componets, but no way for a small bore. You'd probably have to swage up about 10,000 bullets before you break even on the tooling vs. bulk bullets.

A guy here in town was making bullet jackets out of 22 LR brass, don't know how he did it but there was an article somewhere he read and thought why not? It worked for what he was doing with them but bullets really ain't that expensive yet.

Did a few maybe 25-30 years ago. It's nice to be able to do it, I suppose, but it's a lot of work and as long as you can buy commercial bullets I think that's the way to go.

OK...the consensus so far is negatory on the swaging because it aint worth the time or money at this point.

my experience lately is 5.56 is unavailable in quantity domestic production and my sources for bulk bullets are not even taking phone orders.

so folks, could you please post sources for reasonably priced domestic production and bulk bullets? TIA.

10,000 bullets, if that breaks even thats a year of bullets or even less than for shooting. They way its going with the suicide of our country on 4NOV08, one might should invest...

As to sources of bullets, I've seen the same on primers, hold your horses a bit, IE give it 3-6 months and I suspect they'll be much more available again, depending on the stupidity in congress and the "white" house
