I have a Marlin 1894CL 32-20 and a 1894 Cowboy in .357. If you needed to get rid of one gun, which gun would you keep and why? I use them mostly for plinking, varmints, small game, etc. Any input would be appreciated. I need to get rid of one so I can get something different. Thanks,

If it was my decision, I'd keep the 357 magnum myself.

Brass is cheaper, and easier to find, plus there are more varieties to choose from. It'll also shoot 38s, which comes in handy when shooting smaller stuff like rabbits, with out tearing up too much meat. It'll also handle deer just fine up to 100 yards.

The bullet selection alone would be enough for me to decide on though. You can get bullets in a wide variety of styles from 110g to 200g, which makes it nice, when you're tailoring a load for specific tasks.

Boy I think you have a tough choice here. I would lose the .357 as it is easier to replace down the road if you want. On the other hand if some collector desired the 32-20 and was going to pay top $ then I might have to part ways with it. If it's not that complicated I'd lose the 357 for the above mentioned reason. I will assume you are reloading already and have 32-20 gear so ammo isn't an issue. If it is then bye-bye 32-20. Hope this is cogent. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Dave, I might be interested in the 32-20 if it is the one you decide to let go. TM
