I have a rebarreled Mauser; it is an Adams and Bennet F34 contour in 30-06(I know it's not a Douglas but it does shoot well with reloads). Muzzle diameter is .650. I would like to put iron sights on the gun and make it my woods gun for elk. So I have a couple of questions. My brother gave me a rear sight assembly from an old Remington rifle, model 742, that he wasn't using. With this rear sight what do I need to know before purchasing a front sight and ramp. How high does the front ramp and blade combination need to be? The Remington sight and ramp height was .530. Will that measurement work for my rifle as well? I'm looking at getting an NECG universal front ramp and then adding a front sight but I also looked at getting a Marbles Uni-Ramp front sight but the highest they have is .470. Would this sight work with the Remington ramp. Sorry for all of the questions but I'm new at having open sights installed on a rifle. Thanks for any and all help.

Should work with the Remington front sight off the BDL, 742 or 760 Models

The Remington rear sight has a LOT of vertical adjustment, so just set it down low but not to the bottom and locate it. You'll have plenty of adjustment up and down.
Also, look at the Williams Guide Sight for the rear. Very nice and cheap, too.
