Just bought a Bushnell Banner shotgun scope. The scope has a large orange arrow, highlighting the scope's 6" eye-relief, affixed to the top of the rear bell. No problem except when you try to remove the sticker without ruining the scope. You would think that Bushnell would have sense enough to use an easy-to-peel sticker. Instead, I had to invest nearly 30 minutes using Goo-Gone and a plastic straight edge to get that abnoxous sticker off the scope. If you have the same problem, use Goo-Gone on a Q-tip to paint the sticker and slowly remove it. Don't allow the fluid to run into any threads. Use a plastic ruler of some type as using any metal to peel off the sticker is likely to mar the scope.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3197/is_8_47/ai_90753686May of 2008. Bushnell bought the name and their IP though Tasco had already ceased trading. One might imagine that they sell the inexpensive stuff under the Tasco brand and put the better stuff out under Bushnell. They did this with Bausch and Lomb brand before. But then again they've always had poor brand management: with so many product families under the Bushnell name it's hard to give a "Bushnell elevator pitch". And no they're not all crap ... some of them are; some of them aren't. But as a company they don't have any great focus. Pruning the families would be a good idea e.g. not confusing the Elite brand with additional Elite E2 and Elite Infinity sub-families. Sheesh! On another forum I said the Bushnell Elites are like Rodney Dangerfield: they don't get no respect. Though sometimes I do see them as the loud guy in the check sports jacket, white belt and white shoes of the bin world. Yougotaproblemwiddat?

I would think that open sights would be a better more reliable choice than any Bushnell.....

I can't knock the banner series of scopes. I've had three 1.5 x 4.5 x32 on hard recoiling rifles and not had a single complaint. One on a whinnie 444 black shadow (synthetic stocked 444 hell of a kicker), one on a 45/70 Marlin and a third on a 336. The optics were clear, bright and held zero with repeatable adjustments. Now I won't lie and say optically they were as clear as say a VXIII 1.5x6, but they cost about 70 bucks compared to 300 or more. Very good value for the money. Ranch dog a poster over at marlinowners.com and shooterforum.com has well over 10 of them on different Marlins.

I would think that open sights would be a better more reliable choice than any Bushnell..... ...then you'd be wrong.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

I have not owned a scope yet that was more reliable than the Elite series. Silly to lump them in with the products Bushnell markets that are made in China and the Philippines. On the flip side, I bought a Bushnell Trophy scope (about a hundred dollar purchase at the time) and mounted it on a friends 12 ga Mossberg slug gun some 20 years ago and that scope has been trouble free.
