.280's are ever so much finer than .270's or 7 RM's... . Dennis Troublemaker....
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I rebuilt a Ultra Light Arms to .280 for a customer. He only had it a couple weeks before his wife took it and now it is HER rifle. Give NULA a call, that light .280 will be worth every penny.

The 280 Rem has had my curiousity for some time. I want one, but there are few options out there. From time to time you'll see one pop up. But its always at the wrong time. I know the options wont get any better. But I just wanted to vent a tad Mine is a Ruger All Weather. Even with its 11# factory trigger pull it still shoots commercial ammo to 1/2". I love mine. Never will sell it.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

i just got a .280 myself a couple weeks ago. Ruger mark II all weather. i'm not a fan of the boatpaddle stock so when a campfire member offered up a basicly brand new hawkeye synthetic stock two weeks ago for 50.00 i jumped on it. so far i'm pleased with the results at the range, and in another week i hope to see first hand how it performs in the field. just this past weekend i stumbled onto some rem .280 ammo for 12.00 a box and bought all 7 they had.

"I've got you all beat! Bought a new Remington Model 725 in .280 Remington in 1962. Elk, Mule deer, Blacktail Deer, Whitetail deer, antelope, Black bear, coyotes...... it does 'em all!"
please post a pic of your 725 if you can. I've seen very few thorough the years and i believe all the ones i saw in person were 30-06. I think your 280 725 is one of the neatest classic dear rifles from the past. years ago in "shooting times" Layne Simpson displayed a picture of his 725 in 244 remington.

I wanted a .280 ever since my Dad claimed it was too small to hunt moose with- he used a 30-06 and figured it was soo much better! I finally found one I could like- but it was actually a 7x64 Brenneke - almost exactly the same thing, only European and invented a few decades earlier. The rifle a nice 1950 Brno Model 21H, and now has a Zeiss 3-9 Conquest on it. I used it to kill a good bull elk this fall. I think you'll like the .280 if you find one. I posted these pics before somewhere, but couldn't resist one more time...

LMAO! I cant afford that sucker, wish I could. I had a Stiller action, Manners Stock, Williams Bottom Metal and Broughton Barrel. All sitting on the side waiting to get built. But something went wrong and had to sell...That was going to be my .280

Excellent cartridge - heavier bullets than the 270 Winchester with mighty fine balistics.

Excellent cartridge - heavier bullets than the 270 Winchester with mighty fine balistics. See thats why I like it...Load up for hunting and then you could load up some VLD's or AMAX's and shoot a long way. I think I'm going to have to dangle out my Montana for one..
