If you have hunted NM Oryx; what guide service did you use.
Thank you.

Are you hunting on someone's ranch or are you thinking you might get selected on their draw system?

We winged it ourselves. It's not a hard hunt as long as you realize what your trophy expectations are. If they are high, you might want to take someone who can judge them.

The hardest part of the hunt on the White Sands is drawing the tag. I drew a few years back & it was a DIY hunt. Off range is another story. Again drawing the tag is the hard thing to do. Got another outfitter friend----Kevin @ www.diamondjoutfitters.com That's his WY website----but he lives in Aztec, NM----He's got a NM outfitters outfit also. He's killed several oryx. Good guy & he hunts hard. I used him to get a WY bull moose in 2007. Good luck CB

Reba,
PM me and I will help as much as I can. I did this hunt on the WSMR in August. To be honest, I would not waste your money on a guide. You don't need one, and most who have done the hunt will tell you the same. There are plenty of animals and the success rate is over 80%. Hell, if I remember correctly, the hunt that took place in October had half of the guided hunters (small number) not tag out.
PM me with your contact information and I will be glad to fill you in on a bunch of details (I've helped two other here that were successful on their hunts, and another who is on the hunt this weekend).

Fellas, Understand that there are several different areas you can draw for on the WSMR. I drew for the 'small' missle range and finding them isn't a problem. You can also get previous years reports that list success rates (usually high 90%) and even the success rate with guides (again usually high 90%). I wouldn't get a guide unless you're going by yourself and need help hoisting one of those things in the back of your truck. I'd advise just using a come-along. They are a heck of a lot cheaper! Guides are really a waste of money for this hunt. And I use guides extensively. It's just that there are so many Oryx running around. And the area biologist will be on hand and the guys who work there on the WSMR are there to help as well. What I found weird is they WANT you to take them and will be driving around pointing them out so you can get in on them. That was my experience.

Hey! Good information.
Therefore the draw odds do not increase by going through a Guide Service?
Some would have you believe some Guide Services are allotted tags.
Thanks.
