I refuse to have anything to do with Mossberg... Buck McNeely support is the key reason, but their guns are not quality products...
Generally the O/U guns from these lower grade manufacturers are not noted for reliability and durability... Stoegers are usually clunky and slow. How well you shoot each should be a huge part of your decision, fit is everything.
I think the best gun for the money at the lower levels is in a Huglu... The Browning Citori is a solid shotgun if you go to the next level. art
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

If you want a beater that you would cause you to smile if you dropped it overboard, the Stoeger 2000 autoloader and the Mossberg 500 pump can't be beat. I have a Stoeger 2000 hiding in the corner to be taken out on truly crappy days that that don't allow use of one of the L.C.Smith's or Browning O/U's. The few times I've drug it into a goose blind it functioned well. Stoeger and Mossberg guns are utilitarian tools (some models of which are pure junk) that aren't likely to instill great pride of ownership. JMhumbleO.
