I went to the gunshop today and fondled lots of rifles. Tried the Sako A7 and 85 and the Browing A and X bolts. Seems I like the feel of the A-bolt II with the synthetic stock and the palm swell best. Want a 7-08 or possibly a 308, so just wanted to see what was out there. If you have something else to throw at me fling away. You guys have come through for me before on a post like this so I thought I would try again.

About 99% my local shop had a SS/Syn a few weeks ago, but since I believe it may be gone, will see next time in there and let you know if it is there.

Had a Micro Medallion 20" shot like my varmint 700, 10 Twist I believe, worked great with 130/140s I was using, just too pretty, FINE wood on that glossy stock, had to go.....hated to worry about scratching it. Just don't load bullets into lands, there is less 'camming' leverage w/short bolt throw, and its harder to lift the handle unloading a chambered round...too much work for it in a short distance?

Maybe my throat was tight specs....sure was accurate though.

How about a SS in 7mm WSM? Good shooter. I just can't get into the stainless synthetic thing. I also like standard calibers. Although, I will say this thing has much less felt recoil than I was expecting. The after market Limbsaver might have helped. I've got dies and 160 or so cases to go with it. 100 of them are bulk Winchesters, about 40 or so fired. The other 60 are 2 boxes of Winchester Supreme and one Federal blue box. Total of about 100 rounds fired.

GregoryR, I just won a Browning Abolt 11 syn/camo in 338 wm. Never put the bolt in the rifle. Allot bigger than the 308 but it is all I have. Would be willing to give you a great buy on it or trade would even be better. John

Thanks for the offers guys. Most of that stuff is bigger than I am wanting. Contemplating making Taz a trade offer. Not crazy about the 788 but I am sure it is a nice gun.

I have a NIB Browning A-Bolt Stalker in 30-06 that I would sell. I have rings & mount and I think I have a full box of Fusion ammo for it. I have a 270 & a 280 that I shoot so I don't need a 30-06, I would trade for a stainless/laminated Tikka in 300wsm.

Taz, I said I was contmplating. I was actually contemplating something very stupid on my part. You missed out as there was nice weather today and I went to the range and my mind was cleared. Not looking for a WSM or a long action. Anyone with a 243wssm a-bolt might peak my interest.
