I think the photographed officer has some circumstantial evidence to show that she didn't shoot the guy.

Ya, I saw that one a while ago. Just a visual reminder of the hazards of leaving your personal safety in the hands of "professionals". She is a poster child for CCW.

Likely, quite the opposite. While she was trying to get her chit together after noticing her slight problem, the perp would likely have all the time necessary to acquire her in his sights and you would be, at least temporarily, out of harms way.
"To protect and to serve"......with that kind of training or perhaps lack of comprehension and attention to detail on her part, she would have found herself "serving" herself right up.
This post is in no way meant to disparage all LEO's as I'm a retired one as well, but such incidents don't help the general public's confidence level in "our" abilities to take care of the business at hand.
You're right RGS.......we ARE our safety net......always have been and always will be. More now than ever before................IMHO.

The already low resolution of a newspaper photo that is then reproduced on a computer screen makes it impossible for me to tell with any certainty, but I would guess that, (especially given the length the mag seems to be hanging down), it is very possible that what we are seeing is a back-up mag clipped upside down to one that is properly seated.
