I am looking for a accuarate load using 168 grain Berger VLD bullets. I would like this to be a fairly "hot" losd as I am a velocity junkie. So any info would be great. The gun is a Remington 700 KS mountain rifle with 24" barrel.

Give 7828 a run, it's long been my go to powder for the big 7's with the heavier slugs.

Might give Retumbo a try also! I shoot the 168 VLD's with Winchester brass, 70.0 grains Retumbo, 215M's, and bullets seated about .010 into the lands. Velocity runs right at 3000 fps through my 26" barrel. Accuracy is consistently better than 3/4 MOA and often times much better.

It's my understanding that IMR7828 was developed specifically for the 7MM Rem. It has been my powder of choice for some years. My favorite load has been 65grs. or so of it and the 160gr.Nos. Partition. In a 26" Hart barrel I'll get about 3050psf. You should get great accuracy with the Bergers. Good luck.

73 grains of Retumbo runs @ 3050 out of 3 of my 7 mags and shoots very well, I get 3200 out of my Sendero, these are very accurate loads and shot under 3/4 inch all day long, buck the wind well, I am playing with the 180 VLD's now but havent had a chance to test them against the 168's in the wind at long range yet, the 162 Amax is very accurate as well but to fragile in my mind for hunting,

If you're running out of case capacity before you see pressure signs or the velocity you want, you might try the ball powders. Accurate MagPro works very well and then there's Ramshot Magnum and the new WW Supreme 780, which I have not yet tried but have som on the way.

+1 for 7828. I use IMR4831 for the lighter pills, but anything 160 grns. or over get 7828. It just works!
