google ice fishing on Lake of the Woods. There are more guides, resorts, and ice fisherman up there than you could imagine. There are shacks you can stay overnight in, or they can take you out to them.

Look in the Brainerd area too. Same deal.

If you get a chance to try speering. I was told the regs changed in MN to allow nonresidence to speer there now. I was only able to watch, but it kept me interested for hours.

I agree with Lake of the Woods. You can get a flight right into International falls and then have a resort pick you up from the airport.

There are resorts that take you out to the heated shacks and pick you back up in the evening. The one I went to was Arnesons Rocky Point Resort and I would highly recomend them. All you need is a ice combo or two and a half dozen jigs and spoons, there are even tackle stores on the way to the resort that you could stop at and get what you need. The only other thing you would want is a flasher or portable graph and you might even be able to rent one from the resort.

If you want to research LOW (lake of the woods) then get on fishingminnesota forums & select the lake of the woods area. You'll get the latest lowdown on the hot walleye bite.

Or just shoot me a PM when you want to go & I'll do my best to stear you straight.

I just put together an 8x16 permanant house myself that will fish 6 guys. I will probably be putting it out of the rocky point area on arnesons reef.

So, I could probably help you out if that's what you want to try.

Let me know if I can help. It's a hoot.

A little closer to NC is PA, and there are some pretty decent places here, once it gets cold enough. However, when I think ice fishing, I think of MN.

What northern dave said. Head to www.fishingminnesota.com I'd offer to guide you, but you'd be better to spend your money on Lake of the Woods, Leech, or Mille Lacs, maybe Red Lake.
