since everybody says quote "the first custom gun you should buy is a 22" end quote. i decided to make one. i started with a savage mk II lv (heavy barrel, laminate stock), then installed a aftermarket rifle basex sear, and permanetly bedded the action (took it out, filled it in with bedding compound and smashed it in with no release, whipe off extra). then i went to sports authority and got a nikkon 4x32 rimfire scope (75 on sale from 99), and mounted it in the new leupold rings that look like talleys.
am getting .5", 5 shot 50yard groups with cci stinger, and slightly smaller with green tag.
Just a note on those Stingers, when I built my Ruger 10/22's I used Volquartsen Tension Barrels, they come with a note that says NOT to use Stingers as the brass is about a 1/16th of an inch longer and it might damage the chamber.
Now I am not sure about your Chamber, but it might be something to consider.
Just as a side note I have had really good luck with the K-Mart Dynapoint 22's in the 10/22's
Other then that looks like you got a nice rig! Enough it!
im not using the stingers for target practice, those were just my groups with varmint hunting ammo, the stinger .5" and the quik-shok(my favorite performance wise) was 1.1". for targets i usually use rem golden bullet, or green tag which groups just under .5". that is why the groups are so far above the bulls eye, the green tag is dead on, i need to rezero for hunting season.
I built a little custom 10-22 for my kids but I saw one at walmart the other day that got my attention. It has a longer barrel than the carbine standard (it looks 20-22"), is all stainless in nice walnut stock with checkering and rubber recoil pad. this is a very nice adults 10/22 and a good deal for $199.
