Does anyone have any experience with the Weatherby 30-378. Thinking of purchasing one from a buddy. I already have a Rem 300 Ultra Mag, will I gain anything? Any input pro or con will be helpful. Thanks Bill <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I know with the accu-brake mine kicks like a .243. I like the Norma brass for the .30-378 better than the .300 Ultra Remington brass.

I don't own one but a couple of guys at the shop own them. They like them but I never saw much point in one. I don't need that much steam for anything I'd shoot with a .30 bore and if I truly need that much punch I'd use something bigger than a .30 anyway. That's just me though. If you want one that's reason enough to add it to the battery!

I shoot both. With any bullet choice under 200 gr, I'd say you wouldn't be gaining much. Starting at around 500 yards you will see a proportional increase in benefit from less elevation correction and less wind deflection in favor of the Weatherby.
