How many of you have had extraction problems in M-99 with .300 Savage and .308? What was your solution? Download to lower pressures? Change brass?

Not really.. are they reloads, or factory? If factory, which brand? Which model of 99?

Extraction problems normally result in the 99 when your load is a tad on the hot side..cut back one of two grains and try again..
If not that then check your extractor, it may have some wear or your brass may be a tad out of spec..The extractor could also be gunked up, that happens on ocassion.
The 99 is famous for good function btw...

I have found the cases to stick in the chamber on a couple of mine. Someone a long time ago said to switch to federal ammo(factory) and that the brass is slightly thicker. Whether or not this is true, by golly that fixed the problem. Could be chamber tolerances vary slightly, and by the way I've found it to be true in both pre mil and post mil so the "quality" question in that regard doesnt seem to be the issue. You might clean the chamber as good as you possibly can too. All I know is this worked for me.

For me, my 1950 99EG will deliver the first couple rounds fine, but number 3 or 4 won't go into the pipe. I think mine is either gunk or rotor spring tension.

I had a 99c detachable magazine, in .308Win, years ago fired some mil-surp 7.62mm and after that I could not open the lever !! I now know you do not do this !! I only use factory Winchester in that rifle now, My 99A in .308Win works ok with hand loads, my 358 I only use Winchester silvertips 200g and no problems.
