A friend of mine in another state called me this morning to wish me well, and told me has a lead on a NIB Marlin Model 455 in 30-06. The owner passed away and his widow is moving back to her original home state. I have heard of this model but have never seen one for sale. I have found very little on the internet, most articles just say it was made for 2 years and dropped, then they go on to describe the MR7. I know it uses an FN Mauser action, but I dont think it would be any more desireable than any other Mauser based rifle. Any input is appreciated guys. Regards, Jericho.

Marlin model 455, made from 1957-1959. FN mauser action with Sako trigger, Lyman 48 reciever sight, 24" barrel, Cal. 308 and 30-06. 1079 30-06's produced and 59 308's. NIB $400 to $500, exc. $300 to $400 and good $200 to $300. With the 308 commanding the most money. These are prices from a traders guide so take them for just a guide.

Dang, didnt know the gun was that old, checked my Blue Book just a few minutes ago before I read your post. I have seen a few Marlin 222s w/Sako actions before, but never an FN Mauser. So Im assuming this a desirable gun.

My friend just purchased one with very nice wood. I'm not sure if they all have high grade wood, but if your friend is not interested or wants to resell it, I may be interested.
