Wondering if anyone has seen the new CZ550 american stocks? They are supposed to be a slimmer/trimmer hunk of wood, and wondering how much trimmer? Also finish?

Yup. Got one just a year old. They are definitely, noticeably slimmer and trimmer than the older version with pretty nice figure in the wood too. The stock has just a hint of a palm swell in the grip that I like a lot, and the fit and finish is just excellent. My CZ 550 American in 6.5 Swede looks exactly like the one displayed on their website, right down to the color and figure in the wood. However, mine wears a 2.5-8x VXIII in Talley low fixed rings. Not too shabby for $600. Take a look here: CZ 550 American

Retail is $871.00. Getting it for $600.00 would be nice.
Too bad they don't offer factory iron sights on the American model. That adds another $100.00 to bring up to snuff.

Puddle, that exactly the caliber I had in mind. Always wanted a "Swede". Our local Sportsman Wharehouse had one a year or two ago like the pic on the website. Beautiful walnut for 5 something. Should've grabbed it. I guess I'll start my search to locatate another, I am weary about ordering rifles these days, seems better to give them a good look over first.

When I ordered mine the gunshop tacked on another for their rifle rack. I got to look at both of them when they arrived. In both cases the fit and finish was excellent, some of the best I've seen for a factory rifle. All I did to get mine ready for the range was to sit in front of the boob tube for a couple of hours and work the new action a couple hundred times.
very happy camper....

My wife and I have worked out an arrangement - She doesn't look at what comes in the basement door, and I don't look at what comes in the front door.
