Ive got some Norma brass on the way for a 270. I have always used ww, rem, and FC; so Norma is a first. Is the construction heavier(ie thicker walls)? If it is, enough to warrant a reduction in charge from suggested loads in manuals?
I always work up my loads with the assistance of a chronograph, and usually weigh different manufactures brass, but dont have any other 270 brass to compare to.

If you start at the lower end of recommend powder charges as is usual in load workup, you'll be safe.
If you've already worked up 270 loads with other brass and are not pushing maximum loads, you can try the same load with Norma brass. If pushing maximum a maximum load, reduce the load by 1.5 to 2 grains and work back up.
I use Norma brass in several applications. The only cartridge in which I've compared Norma to Remington brass is in a 375 H&H Magnum and the powder charges with each type of brass ended up being the same.

I've found Norma brass to vary in weight and capacity with domestic brass. In 358 Norma Mag which I use for 338 Win Mag, the brass is 17g or more lighter than any domestic 338 brass. In 300 WSM the Norma brass was much heavier than domestic brass and had less capacity. It also was the worst lot of brass I ever saw in a common domestic cartridge leading me to reject further use of it. In 308 it's also lighter and very uniform as it is in 404 Jeffery. It's a crap shoot just like any other brass excepting Lapua and RWS.
The advice given for working up the load, as with any load, is proper and should be followed. I'd also reduce a grain or two and work back up.

Thanks fellas. I will have to acquire some domestic brass to weigh for curiosity sake. I figured Norma would be higher quality to go along with higher price tag. Will work up some loads and see.

In my 7mag, Norma holds 7 grains more water than any domestic brand... Measure before proceeding. JMO, Dutch.
