Will do. Been to the cabin lately? I wonder how deep the snow is getting to be on the road in?

Was out there Wed last week to get propane tanks & we were skimming snow with the axles a bit between wheel tracks with the truck. That was before we got another 6 to 8 inches, so I figure it's getting plenty deep out there.

Hey welcome and happy 18th once again boy bang flop! Don't worry, no matter what name you get, you'll still always be the "boy" deep down. wink

We need to get after some coyotes one of these days. We still have not used my e-caller on a 2 man setup yet.

Hay tzone, nothing wrong with a 300! It's killed a lot of game.
I hunted with one last year, a model F. Kinda heavy tho. This year I carried a 303 with a 20" barrel (had a smith shorten it). For all
the difference it made, it could have been a pop gun. Right now I customizing a 22H.P. Bruce

Yeah we do! Full moon is comin up tuesday i think but i was noticeing tonight that it is pretty easy to see now, i could see three deer about 100 yards off the road standing in the field so i think the coyotes should stick out.

I come home late tonight & thunk to myself, "self.. you should grab 220 swift & go looking for coyotes right now."

It's very bright out there.

Might have to see if I can smoke one this weekend. Maybe I'll use the '06 and keep the neighboors on their toes. grin

Never hunted one of those little buggers...do you use a rabbit call?

I have had coyotes come into my turkey calls two seperate times in the last few years.

One had a belly ache shortly after, the other one came in when I was calling for my step dad and he didn't know he could shoot one.

hunted rabits plenty. never hunted coyotes. I shot one that came to my turkey decoys/calls, but never went after them specifically.

I've tried to call in rabbits...but they wouldn't answer their phones. grin

Sir Flops-a-lot....oh, I like that one. Be careful CBF, the first time you mess up, that one is gonna come flying outta NDs mouth!

Course a guy should be able to find something that ND stands for...

I have always wondered this....we have plenty of coyotes in Andover, the way-to-close-to-the-cities place where I currently live. It is a suburb on the extreme northern edge of the cities. Why dont they sing? I see them, but never, ever hear them. No one else hears them either. What gives?

I'm not sure. I live reasonably close to town and see them about twice a month.

I hear them about twice a year. When I do hear 'em, it is always late at night.

"Why don't they sing?"

hmmm....good question. I'll give my best guess based on what I have witnessed with coyotes while bowhunting out west and around home. Coyotes are a pack animal but in the country and wide open spaces they will split up in groups of one or two when they are hunting. When its time to regroup like at dawn for example, the alpha yote will sing and the rest will open up and let the others know where they are at. Sometimes it sounds like they are a mile or more apart and in all directions. This goes on until they all re-group and then the whole pack will open up together. Same as at night when they re-group after bedding (or whatever they do) for the day. In late january and february they break up into breeding pairs.

So on to my GUESS:
Maybe in the 'burbs' they are close enough to humans that they have lost this natural instinct due to becoming more like scavengers or since they are so dang smart maybe they just don't want to give away their position being that close to humans.

Like I said, just a guess.
