Ice Cream & The Election
Excellent analogy!
From a teacher in the Nashville area.
Who worries about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream?
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.
We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections.
Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely could say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it? She didn't know.
The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten.
Olivia won by a landslide.
Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and fifty-two percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream.
The other forty-eight percent of us know we're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.

Really???????? I loved the Bush boys and think that Ronald Reagan was the best thing that ever happened to this nation in my lifetime. I was prouder than hell when George W. took a stand against the terrorist attacks on our country. I went to New York and saw the devestation as I worked trauma rescue in St, Vincents Hospital in New York city. Words cant describe what that was like. ITs BURNED forever in my memory what burning flesh smells like. All these PUDS who want Obama in office may get to smell thier own flesh before its over.
God have mercy on our Nation!

I love ice cream, but I'll buy my own thank you. Give Obama 4 years, and the god-worhipping crap will end. The Takers by then will demand more than ice cream. That's how takers are...The Republicans will be back. Hope the country hasn't been given away by then.

Well..the smell of burning flesh...and ashes in the air from dead children in a daycare jolted me to the reality of war. Im afraid for us right now......very afraid. All I can hope for is the Congress of this great Nation will stand up and beat down the tyrrany about to be inflicted on the working man in this nation. I have missed 1 FRICKIN week of work to get me chemo started. I will pay our MORE in taxes this week than some will make to feed those who refuse to work! (see sig line below!)

We were having this very discussion at work last night. Seems many folks are VERY vigilant and worried about terrorism on our soil, and about the apathy of those who aren't. If we are plunged into near economic depression, those with chronic open hands and so pathetically self invested may turn to crime. Many aspects to consider. Will somebody sell us off to some terror plot? Many have sold their souls for less.

Great story! The moral is, unfortunately, too true.
