An equipment operator on the job were are working on invited me to tag along after ducks today, so off we went.

Had a lil Jon boat and a 1/2 asleep Golden Retriever. Anyways we put in and everything is frozen had to kinda feel our way through the busted ice of other boats. Then ya hear a Snap and he starts cussin up a stream. Seems one of the Oar Locks broke. Ended up with him using the good oarlock and me paddling as if she were a canoe.

We finally found a patch of open water and set out the dekes and beached the boat. Birds stopped flying around 9, we threw in the towel around 10AM. Still its a good way to spend the morning.

On the way back we discovered that the channel that had been broken through the ice had froze over. He ended updisconnecting the oarlock and paddling the same as I was as we had to stab the paddles through the ice and then try and get them out from under the ice at the end of each stroke grin Those paddles looked like hell by the time we got back to the truck
