Storing Your CDs Properly Protects Your Favorite Photos

Did you know that how you handle and store your picture CDs and DVDs can have a real impact on how long those images last?
When picking up a CD, make sure to hold it by the edges or carry it by using your finger through the center hole. The oils on your hands can build up or a fingernail might scratch the media and keep part of the data (photographs) from being read in the future.
Always make sure to store your CDs in jewel cases, paper sleeves or in an archival-quality CD binder. Keep the CDs stored upright (in the same way you would place books on a bookshelf) and remember to open the files on each CD each year to make sure those images are still accessible to you.
While it takes a little more care to properly store your images, remembering that you have years of priceless memories will make the few extra minutes of effort well worth it!
