Trying to help someone locally decide what brand and model of a safe to purchase and best place to shop. I think he is looking for at least a 24 or 36 gun capacity model.

I have already let him know the make and models of the two that I have but I somehow think he wants "The Ultimate Safe". This guy has some extremely high dollar guns so price is not an issue.

He will only buy new from a dealer so I don't need any offers to sell a Wal Mart special for $10,000 or any similar ideas.

This is a serious request please.

I use Browning safes and have never had a problem. They are middle of the line...

All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<

One of the best is supposed to be Fort Knox but I have had no experience with them. I am currently running two Liberty safes. I have had Brinks, Canon, National Security and Homaks in the past. The National Security was the nicest as far as interior, finish and fire proofing but was too heavy and too small to be kept. It was their top of the line with 1200 degrees for 1 1/2 hours and 4 way 1 1/8 thick steel bolts, but for the 24 guns it held it was a 1000 pound safe, empty. SandG locks are some of the best as far as dials go. Just some thoughts, Ryan

Can't go wrong with a Browning. I suspect that there might be some good deals to be had, now that the economy has gone south.

I've had a Browning for over 10 years. It is the tall, wide, fireproof model that they had at the time. No ones tried to bust it open and the house hasn't burnt down so can't comment on performance but it's big, heavy and well laid out. They've probably added better features over the years.

Keep this in mind though, gun safes and garages have one thing in common. I've yet to have either one that was too big! Cowboy up and get the biggest, baddest one right out of the box.

Construct a vault and add a door. Above comment about size still holds true. smile

As others have stated, go bigger than you think you will need. I have a 2 Cannons and am very satisfied with them. The gun shop I work at carries only Eort Knox, and they seem to be very stout safes. One thing for sure, i much prefer the digital elec locks! So much faster to gain access over the dial things!

I have passed the information on and suggested he get something big enough to hold what he currently has which is about 10 items. He is having a new house built soon and I also suggested he include a vault room with a door similar to what most banks have.

Thanks for the comments to everyone, I do appreciate the ideas.
