Yup trucks were TRUCKS back then... Dad had a 77 Ford with a 460 and the Granny 4 speed on the floor, a 78 Chevy 454 and auto and my older bro had another 78 chevy.. All those were around while I grewup about till 1990. Each One had a purpose and were a BLAST driving, all had glasspacks and all would lay rubber easily.

For a 16 year old to be able to blow blue flame when hammerin it they were PERFECT... Gawd I NEED to get a REAL truck again next time, the V6 in my 99 Ford 150 is a Workhorse but has No high end torgue. Sometime SOON this WILL change.. Thanks for the memories!

Guess they all make both good and bad ones . The brand new 77 f350 my dad got with the 390 , was either a hungover monday or lets hurry up and go home it's friday built truck frown
The 2nd motor( first one went thru 5 quarts of oil in less than 100 miles ) toted our pickup camper to Alaska and back in 77 and was replaced again that fall a few months after we got back. After a dozen or so king pins and at least that many power steering pumps , Dad had the bad parts cut off that truck and we have a 1 ton trailer now cool
I've had good luck with gmcs and chevys.

Frightful cold out there on the lake today Dave. We didn't get going until after noon, but still managed 15 fish anyway. None to big, most to small, kept enough for a couple of meals.

We had fun though. Frightful cold though. Wind flapping the house all afternoon. Seriously regretting having a beer 'cause then I had to pee. Too cold to pee.

I went to work this morning, and it was -7 without the wind chill. I'm guessing it was colder by dave and craig.

It was probably in the teens below zero while we were fishing. But there was this incessant 5-10 MPH wind. Just enough to carry away any heat energy. Really sapping. We were in a portable (tent style) fish house and it was all we could do to keep the holes from freezing over.

Somedays it does pay to stay home. It's just that they only make so many Saturdays. I'm better than I used to be. 10 years ago no weather no how was going to get in my way. I might be wiser. Or a little lazy.

Boy you guys are some early birds. What time do you have to be to work? Glad I'm retired and can sleep in. Was 15 below here this morning.

ND, your posts says 4:13 am. Yet you got up at 5. Putting those two things together means you have a computer in your bed? that certainly is, uh, um....dedication to this thread. What does Mrs ND say about it? Doesnt it get in, um, uh, the way?

-11 this am. This chit is gettin' old.

wears a guy out. I had to work all weekend so I didn't get to play outside anyway. didn't miss it much. I wanted to take my boy to the ice drags, but the windchill was -30, so that wasn't going to happen.

Those drags are fun to watch, some of those dudes run in the 12's...on ice!
