Ingram's work just fits my eye. I've seen nothing else that looks as good. As for work, I'm sure Dozier and others will hold up as well. I just like Gene's stuff better.

MCH, I'm not defensive at all. I think the attitude you read my post with determines how you perceive it. Read it with an open mind and dont assume anything negative and I think it may make a difference. If not, then I communicated my point poorly.

Ingram makes a great knife and I own a few. If you like Ingram then you would like May as well.
I have been around many custom makers and have never heard a word from any of them talk about Doziers reputation or any envy. I have heard lots of other names mentioned but never Doziers. If it works for you and you like it then run with it. You are the one that has to be happy with it nobody else.
Here is another I forgot about and should be punished for. Fred Ott makes some wonderful knives specially if you like Damascus blades.

I have too many old Schrade,Camillus, and Case knives to justify buying a knife.

Dozier/Crotts fixed models in D2 are my choice. I'd love to have one of his folders!
Folders I use? Benchmade M2 models. Tough as nails.

It is a shame Benchmade dropped M2 blade steel from their line! I have a couple of AFCK folders with M2 and love the stuff.

MOGC, Benchmade is beginning work with M4. A series of 710's in M4 were just issued and sold. So far, feedback is good.
I do like me some hard working steel in my pocket!

I haven't looked at the spec's on M4. Guess I'll research it a little and see how it compares to the good old M2.

CPM M4 is bad to the bone.
I just wish some of my favorite designs were available in it.

A few years ago, I was thinking about making some wood lathe turning tools. I had made some from M2 at about Rc60, and they didn't stay sharp as long as I would have liked.
I called some people who manufacture cutting tools made from high speed steel, and asked them for a recommendation.
They all recommended M4.
I didn't ask any wood lathe tool manufacturers because I didt't think they would want to give information to someone who might be in competition with them.
