I was looking at the new FX-3 6X42 scope from leupold. The weight showed at 13.6oz even on the LUPY website.
The old FX-III weighed 11.3oz. Wonder if this is right and if it is why on earth would they make this scope heavier let alone 2.3oz heavier?

Oh well I guess. I just ordered one with the LR-reticle. Be interesting to see if there are any differences...

Could be a typo... guess we'll find out.

IME, Leupold scopes are always lighter than their advertised weight. I like a Co. that overestimates its weights. That's a small signpost of integrity in my book.

Lightweight "thin skinned" scopes in my 50+ years of outdoor experience are more apt to break due to handling damage in heavy terrain.

Just added two new Leupold scopes to my working collection, a 4,5-14x56 (30 mm tube) @675 g and a 3,5-14x56 VX-7L @850 g.
First impression: Good weight which, in my experience stands for "rock solid"; mechanically ok (not lab tested optically, yet). Will report.
