I'll p.m. you, don't cry uncontrolably when you find out.
Well now that I finally have a set of 1" mounts, the 7/8's will most likely be finding their way to Ebay soon.

Naw, most of the guns I get from this long time forum member have turned out to be the best shooting guns I've got in my safe so I'm gonna take that 243 out to the bush with me this year. Maybe even a little pre-season coyote hunting with it.
Still gotta find a $100 EG to take the funny pics with though.

Joe, do you want the 1.5-4.5 steel tube weaver to go with the stith mount--I think its long enough. That is a really nice looking EG--I have a similar condition 300, 250 and .358--you are undercutting the market if you sell it too cheap though. LawMan

Stith's are the one thing I never see around here. I've been a day late and a dollar short on the few that I have seen on the internet that interest me. That is a nice looking rig.

Very nice! I'd love to run across an affordable EG in 243... someday maybe.

Well fellas Mad Dog has finally come out of the closet He can no longer hold in his feelings! Now don't you just feel better I don't have anything against EG's but I don't have one in my safe. Not too sure how that happened, I seem to have a little of everything! I have had 2 - 250-3000 EG's but they went on to new loving homes. Blair

Jim, I'm o.k. for the scope. Gonna put a Savage 1.5-4X in it. It's just taking up space in one of the safes right now. It's gonna go for the same price I paid for it but I won't ask for any more than that. After I take the scope and mounts off it I'd feel like I was screwing over someone. I don't think I'll have a problem gettin $450 + shipping for the gun.
Very funny Blair, after that gun gets here it'll be losing the mounts and up on CGN before you can blink. I like 300's but the EG's don't float my boat unless they're a hard one to find. Would you turn over a 243 EG or a 22H.P. EG? Didn't think so. You don't have any in your safe for the same reason I don't. For me it's the slender forearm, just don't feel right in my hands.

All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<
