+1 Blued steel and wood, thank you. It is just not that much more for a better quality piece. Dollars and cents do count, though, and I'm sure you could have loads of fun with it. Just not "heirloom" quality to me. The boys already have their eyes on the good stuff in the gun cabinet!

Not heirloom stuff, for sure, but...I have the youth model for my son and a matching one for me. They are accurate and I don't care how much my 10-year old beats his up or hangs it on his ATV. It keeps my nice 9422M from getting beat up.... A Marlin is a lot more $$$, especially as Henry offers a nice discount to NRA instructors like me. I'd rather more people shoot and get involved in the shooting sports than not get involved because they can't afford it. Not everyone is a gun nut, or looks at a firearm as more than a tool to hunt with. Some people will spend $50K on a car or more while others have to settle for a $7K used Toyota.
It seems like more and more guns, especially rimfires, are being sold with plastic parts. 1022s have had plastic mags for a long time!
