I've got an offer to buy a Gregory Palisade pack, used but in good condition for $100. I looked at one at a local camping store today, and it appears to be a nice looking pack, though I believe this is an upgraded version. ANyone have any experience with this pack, and can give me a review of how it performed? Thanks.

I have one that I use for backpacking (but not hunting). It fits me well and is comfortable. I like the slightly thinner but stiffer hipbelt, and I really like the "adjust a cant" system as it allowed me to get a much better fit. It doesn't carry really heavy weight as well as my Granite Gear Flatbed, but then again I just use it for backpacking so it rarely sees over about 45 pounds.

Funny enough, I also bought mine used, for $100. If it fits you well, you can't go wrong for that price.

Google "gregory palisade review". There are quite a few user reviews out there. Sounds like you'd be doing great for the price if it fits you.

I've been hauling 55# around in mine 3-4 times a week for over a year, training for an upcoming hunt. Very comfortable, and handles that much weight-no problem. It's the best balanced pack I've ever had on.

You'll like it. $100...a steal.

I used the very similiar "shasta" (just a few more pockets) on an Alaskan sheep hunt in 2005. Worked great in training and th ehunt as long as the weight was kept under the recommended max of 65#. Over that and it accordians down and is uncomfortable and downright painful.
