I just wanted to pass on some news about the Benoit family. Iris Benoit, wife of perhaps Vermont's most famous deer hunter, Larry Benoit, passed away on 11/5/08. Larry and Iris were married for 66 years. The Benoits have been friends of mine for over 30 years, and I just wanted to pass this on to the members here, as I know many of you have read his books, magazine articles, or hunted with him.
May the best days of your past be the worst days of your future.

Wow, thats bad news, but thanks for sharing it with us.
His family will be in our thoughts from central WI. I never met the man, but I have read a lot of the books and articles about them. I also have a dvd I got this fall.
Camp is where you make it.

Any woman who put up with a dedicated deer hunter for 66 years must have been a saint. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Sorry to hear of it. Some of the Benoit clan is at the Eastern Sports and Outdoors show this week, in Harrisburg, PA. I believe they're doing deer hunting seminars, what else?
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.

Had a nice chat with mr. Benoit several days ago on the phone. I had just bought one of his handmade knives. We have been to several of their seminars over the last few years. If you're going to the show and love deer hunting their seminars are very worthwhile. They will answer any questions and tell alot of good stories if time allows. They usually have books and videos also.

Talked to the sons a bit at the Eastern Outdoor Show & while I had several of their books purchased another so I could have them autograph. I have always been elated that a middle America family from the back woods of Maine could make a lot of money talking & writing about what they love. The boys told me their dad is 84 still hunts, but has slowed down a bit. I'm almost 70 & I have slowed down a hell of a lot. Best of everything to their family.

Sorry for them, because i know what it is like to lose your Mother.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Sorry for the family's loss. Prayers sent to the Benoits.

I met Larry and Iris at the Worcester Show in the mid 90's when Larry released his book about the beginning of his life. My prayers go out to their family.
