I used to have other Woodsman target models. Pre, first, second and third series. And a Challenger, Huntsman and Targetsman..... The one above is the last of 'em.

Thanks for sharing the pic! Alway wanted a Colt Woodsman. Couldn't afford one when I was younger and now they fetch such premium prices I can't justify it now. crazy Very nice piece though! Nice heavy old mossyhorn rack too!

Hello Jimmyp,

I am not much of a shooter of anything but have a number of pistols and rifles.

You did not indicate what you wanted the .22 for but I did read at least most of the replies to your question and just for a shooter, I think I would have to agree with the large group on the Ruger Mark series for that. Price is not to bad either, yet.

But, if you were looking for something to carry, a little pistol I have been thinking about is the Bersa Thunder .22. I have never seen one but have the photo (looks just like my .380) and specs in the manual for the Bersa .380 that I have had for a few years and do carry concealed. Barrel 3.5 inches 18.87 ounces and has a 10 round Magazine. It is a little larger than the Walther I have.

I love my little Bersa .380 use if for all my requalification, and I think right now I could get a new on for $239 from my local dealer/shop and would guess that thet .22 would be about the same.

For What it is worth..

J.C.

I think my all time favorite is the S&W Model 34 Kit Gun though!

yup that one too and the 651. I have sold 2 63's and 2 34's over the years. All in looking for something better. I was wrong! I have run the course from HK4's to S&W 17's and Colt Diamondbacks but I always get back to a S&W 34 or 63. Accurate and handy to carry.

Yeah, I love 'em. In my youth I shot indoor 50' competition with High Standards. Citations, Trophys, and a Victor. Always liked the S&W Mod. 41, but it wouldn't shoot with the High Standards. We bought Remmington Pistol Match ammo through the R.O.T.C. for 31 cents a box. Damn, the good ol' days!

An accurate .22 pistol was, and still is my squirrel gun of choice.

Use 'em and enjoy!

You MUST try out the CZ Kadet.

I have a CZ P-01 which is absolutely a SWEEEEET pistol, and last trip to the range, they had got in a .22 Kadet.

Naturally, I had to try it out, and was Very Impressed! It has the same frame, weight & balance as the CZ 75, and felt just right in my hand. Really really easy to quickfire a 10-shot string in a group slightly larger than a golf-ball, and that was the first time I laid hands on the Kadet.

The only downside is that the magazine is a bit hard to load, but I've noticed posts on the CZ website forums about folks that have reworked some loaders to make the chore easier.

Another downside is that CZ has a conversion kit that turns any of their 75 models (including mine) into a Kadet. A bit pricey, but it's really got me thinking....!!!

9mm ammo is not really that expensive on the cosmic scale, but with a .22 conversion kit (on a gun that I already love) could provide lots & lots of inexpensive practice.

Going back to the range Tuesday... might use the Kadet again just for grins!

GET ONE...

The biggest downside is the price. According to the CZ website the MSRP for the Kadet is $679.00, or for just the Kadet conversion kit for my P-01 or other CZ 75 models is on the high side of $300.00.

I do like the Kadet a hellova lot tho.... might have to see if the benevelent gov't sends me a big enough "stimulus" check to cover it smile

See ya at the range!

+1 for the Sig Hammerli Trailside. I sold my Ruger Mark II after handling this. Just felt "right." Shoots like a dream. Great looking gun too, with the blue/gray laminate grips. Found mine mint at the fun show for $325, but they're normally around $400.

The Trailside comes with a dovetail rail built in. I put a 2x redfield pistol scope on it and man, its easy to shoot it well.

Good luck.

All fine pistols. One of my favorites is my stainless Walther TPH in .22 LR.

I have had a S and W 2206 for many years. If you can find one, it works extremely well. Its not up there with the 41 or High Standards in the bullseye dept., but it is a great little gun. Will accept a suppressor adapter quite readily also, as sold on Gunbroker if you're into that.....
