I went on a ride with a buddy who has a couple early 80's polaris sleds. We went just before Christmas. Those older sleds drew more attention at the watering holes than the new shiny ones did.

After 110mi day, I would have traded the suspension on any of those newer ride though. My back ached for a day after we were done. Fun to take them out though.

My mom said a water main broke on the top of "the hill" in Duluth, which is one of the emergency routes. When it freezes tonite, it will be a big brown icy mess. Not good.

It is misty and drizzle here, but still 35*, could be a mess tomorrow. crazy

I checked with a few snowmobile fanatic friends, told em i was looking to pick up something for the kids to ride & this is what one of them came up with.

550 bucks, I think we already got our money's worth out of it with our big ride yesterday.

I wish I had brought the camera with.

Many of you would have gotten a kick out of our northern border between the US & Canada.

It's definitely a friendly border

there are these little monument markers every so often, one side says united States, the other side says Canada.

we went around one on the Canadian side

so, we went to Canada yesterday, for about 5 seconds.

T , I think those " seats " back then were for when your legs or knees got sore or tired and you stopped to take a break wink
The kickstand was cool though to run the crud out of the bogies so it didn't freeze.

Just priming the pump here Mrs ND , just priming the pump.

A few months from now ( spring time ) I'm guessing the posts will hit the big 3K

This is advance warning for you Mrs ND , Weezy , Cap'n bangflop'em , and even the preacher ( or Runs with scissors )
That speeches will be asked for and also from the virtual family this thread has spawned. grin
Figgered Dave could use a practice run here at 2500 milestone laugh laugh laugh

nice beaver craig!! grin

looks like you got some red oak in the wood pile?

we've got oak at home here but 28 miles away at camp chickenbuck there is no such thing.

my best firewood is birch & tamarack out at chickenbuck.

shooterville is looking good, nice sleds too.

Phil, I'll see if I can assemble some meaningful words to flop out here tomorrow grin my brain is resting at the moment grin

Gotta make sure your beaver stays away from your Viagra clock. smile Got an otter and a muskrat coming soon.

This years wood pile is 1/2 burr oak and 1/2 birch. The pile behind is one year old - all burr oak. I like it two years old before I burn it. Seems best around then. When I lived in Waskish I always tried to get black ash. Mixed 50/50 with birch it seemed a lot like oak. Named ash for a reason though. Stove needed a lot of emptying.

The sled I'm shopping for is for kiddo. Really, I'd like to find a mid 90's long track, maybe 2000 miles for about $1500, maybe $2k for a nice one. 500 or better, liquid for the big bucks. 500 classic touring would be the bomb.

Anybody?

Craig

I think your price in mind matches what you are looking for very realistically.

Check out craigslist, MN, fargo moorhead area. covers a much bigger area than you would think.

if I see anything like that up here i'll let you know.

43 degrees here this morning. Might see 50 before the end of the day. I have a lake at the end of my driveway from the melting snow.
