I have a 257 WBY that i want to change the stock on but not sure if the edge will be to light or if I should go with standard fill remington sporter. I have heard that the edge stock is a little to light for the 26" CDL barrell. That it might be a little top heavy and feel like all barrell but was not sure. Any body have any experiance with this or any coments?

Thanks,
Canoli

It wasn't an edge, but I had a fairly light Ti stock on a 24" BDL SS with mag contour factory barrel. It felt a bit too muzzle heavy, but would work.

I think with the 24" Barels I would not have a problem it is the 26" I am worried about.

Canoli,

I have a 700 CDL SF in .257 Weatherby that I had Hill Country bed in a Classic Edge last fall. I have been very pleased with the way it turned out. Some people might feel it's a smidge muzzle heavy due to the 26" barrel, but it's not a clumsy handling rifle by any means. It's wearing a 6-18 scope which offsets some of the weight of the longer barrel. I believe the Sporter in Edge will be very close in weight to the Classic in Edge.

I really like the way mine turned out but YMMV.

Good luck!

I like a slightly muzzle heavy rifle. If it is too much as little as 1oz of lead under the butt pad would probably fix it the way you like it. The weight increase could be made up easily with a lighter scope or rings.

Not sure of the size of the tube on the SF CDLs, but here's my 257 Roy with a 25.5" barrel and Edge stock.

JMO, no go on the Rem Sporter, go with the McM Classic. It's a much friendlier stock especially for hunting.

Hammer,

What style stock is that there?

Why do you guys say no on the Remington sporter? Hill Country seems to like that stock alot. I am not sure i have never seen or held anything ohter than the MC edge remington mountain which i really liked the feel of the handle on this style but it was a little thin on the forend.

Hoe does the hunters edge and the classic differ?

Thanks,
Canoli

I will try to find the paper work on it.
