So I picked up a LH Rem M700 in .243AI with a VariX-III 3.5-10x40 AO w/ an elevation knob. Before I did a scope swap, I sent the scope back to Leupold for a general inspection.

The serial number gives a build date in 1981. Apparently there was a problem with the AO that required a total replacement under warranty.

So next week, I will be receiving a VX-3 3.5-10x40 w/ a target knob....Free of charge

Say what you want...that's customer service

I'd say that is above and beyond customer service. Gotta love companies that give a schit.

I had one of the older Vari X III's that crosshairs went crooked in and sent it back. In a few days I received A PERSONAL TELEPHONE CALL from one of their folks explaining the scope was too old to repair and what color would it like for my new VX-III to be. I was shocked to actually get personal service in this day and time and a new scope sent immediately. Brimfish

Denise was great to talk to. Something I found unbelievable was the time which I could call her in Customer Service 4PM-2AM PST.

That is indeed outstanding service. Service like that will certainly win loyal customers. It's interesting to hear how such experiences vary.

JonA I own many Leupolds and many of the European scopes. I look at the performance to determine which scope I use. My SB w/ the P3 reticle is my clear favorite but I like my Leupy's too.

Considering I paid $550 for the rifle/scope 100pcs of Lapua brass, ~230 bullets, and the AI dies. I'm feeling really guilty but I'll survive without selling whistle

Awesome! You got upgraded two generations. This is why I never hesitate to buy a used Leupold, and why they hold their used value so well.

That's amazing, and while I've never had them replace a scope like that (never needed 'em to), when I have needed them they've been simply incredible as far as customer service.

A real American success story.

UPS just dropped off 4.5-14x40LR at my office. I bough it used a few weeks ago and sent it in for dual M1 turrets and a general checkup. For them to inspect it, work on it, and ship it back only took 11 days. Not too shabby.

I'm in Oregon, so shipping times are shorter, but twice I've had the TOTAL time, including shipping both ways, be a business week.

In other words, I ship on Monday and get it back by Friday.

People can tell me there are better scopes for the money, but I just think of my father's Leupold 3x9 he bought back in the 60's and is still using today, that's over 40 seasons and counting smile.
