I built a Wood Duck Nesting box from two plastic 5 Gallon Pails about ten years ago. I have had great success with it. I live on a Lake and I keep it on a tree right at the edge of the water. I also made one out of Cedar and placed it near the plastic one. But the ducks prefer the plastic one. The Goldeneye's and the Mergansers fight over it every spring. One year I had 13 Goldeneye chicks drop out of it as I was sitting on my deck watching. If anyone would like a plan on how to make one, I'll send it to you or I suppose I could post it. Fun project for early spring.
