I'm really partial to the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight rifle. Great lines!

There are lots of nice looking one's.M70's come to mind. The best looking big game rifles,to my eye,is a refined Mauser mountain weight rifle stocked by someone like Goens, Biesen, Lind,Shelhammer, etc in classic, simple lines. There are lots of variations on the theme.Ditto a lightweight M70 in 375 H&H.
Most Winchesters from the M94 to the M21 are goodlooking. The best looking levers are the M64,and the M71 IMO.
Only a Hun would not consider a H&H big bore Double rifle to be unattractive.I also like Lenard Mews Weatherby's, Dakota M10's,and Ruger #1's.
Possibly the best, though, is a pre 64 M70 with worn checkering and half the blueing gone from a life of rough use.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I agree the Ruger 1A is a great looking rifle but since we're going on looks I had trouble with eye relief using any scope that looked right to me on a rifle of that size. The mounts are pretty far forward.

Pre-64 Model 70 suits my looks!

I agree the 99's, Mannlicher Schoenauers, 94's, & a flint 54 that I own are classic looking. I would certainly include a #1 but to me a 98 Mauser Sporter fully engraved in 8MM is THE RIFLE. I am fortunate to have purchased one over 25 years ago.

Forget caliber, quality, all the rest. What is the best looking hunting rifle on the market currently? All time? What is it that makes it so?
Currently: Remington Model 700 CDL w/24" barrel nice clean lines, good esthetic balance of stock, action, and barrel. Satin blue, low gloss finish on the walnut, and the faux ebony tip are a good combination out of production, I'm leaning toward Win 64, or a Savage 99F. Beautiful rifles. Sycamore
...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....

43Shooter,
The older 4x28 M8 Leupolds work very well on No. 1's, but if you'd like a more modern scope the 2.5-8x VX-III also works pretty well, and doesn't look weird.

Currently on the market, affordable:Ruger 77 RSI; Ruger #1A; Winchester M70 FWT; Ruger Hawkeye African Currently on the market, requiring a mortgage:Blaser K95; Serengeti Rifles Walkabout/Cheetah profile All-time:BRNO fullstock; Oberndorf Mauser Model A; Rigby; Winchester M64; Winchester 70 Classic FWT; Husqvarna M46 Battle rifle:CETME/G3/HK91 There are lots more I could throw out there -- and my estimation that those are the "best looking" in no way diminishes my affection for the rest of the rifles I own... . As for lines and overall good looks, the 1885 Low Wall is about the best. The Martini Cadet I have in 218 BEE is a winner too.

Can I throw the Winchester 54 into the mix ??? Darn fine looking rifle that many think is a M70.I have one in 30-06 that is absolutely mint. Too darn nice to take into the woods.

To my eyes I always liked the Winchester Model 88, the Ruger No.1 and the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight with the Schnabel tip!

For the best in seeing beautiful rifles go to the (FECG), Firearms Engravers and Custom Gun Makers show held in Reno Nevada every Winter. Its held during the Safari Club International show at end of January or early February. The most beautiful blued steel and walnut I've ever seen.

Current: Remington 700 CDL Blued or Stainless
Past: The old custom Mausers with the english style stock.
JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

RSI 77 or No. 1. The Remington Model 7 Custom Shop MS (full length stock) is striking also.

Model 70 in a Serengeti stock. Certain styles are as good as it gets.
