A friend showed me one he just picked up. I don't remember the model but it was black steel in 9mm. I've never seen one but it felt good and might make a nice carry pistol.

Any opinion's on Bersa?

I don't own one but they are copies of other successful designs. Reliability and price both seem to get good press here on the internet.

Yep, that's the one. A thunder 9 Pro. What's the going rate? Don't care about looks, thought it would be the right size for a carry gun.

Nope. I don't think that's the same "one" he described.
----------------------------------------------------

A "Bersa Thunder .380" is NOT a "Bersa Thunder Pro-9". The Thunder Pro-9 is a 9mm. pistol not a .380.

The Thunder .380 (blowback action), is considered a clone of the Walther PPK, (but one that doesn't jam).

The Thunder Pro-9 is a clone of the Walther P-88 C, (locked breech action). The Bersa Thunder Pro series pistols are also available in .40 S&W Cal. and 45 ACP. Also there is the Bersa Thunder Pro UC series (Ultra Compact).

I have a Bersa 86 "Undercover" .380, (pre "Thunder") model, that's somewhat rare, but not valuable, except to me, and I also have the Walther P-88 C 9mm, which IS expensive.

I recently saw a Bersa Thunder 9 at Gander Mountain for about $329. Wished I had bought it, but I already had the Walther version. Folks on an H&K and Walther Pistol Forum- also liked the Bersa Thunder 9 and had nothing but praise for the pistol.

As far as "looks" go ... I think the Bersas look GREAT.

Sorry for the confusion. The one my friend had was a Thunder 9 Pro. That's the one I was asking about.

The Bersa Thunder Pro-9 is the newest version of the Bersa Thunder 9.

Newest features of the Pro-9 (observable) are a loaded chamber indicator and the addition of a tactical frame rail. There was a report that the rear sight of the Pro-9 was of the 1911 type and interechangable with a 1911 type rear sight.

Again, the Thunder Pro series pistols are of an excellent design patterned after the Walther P88 C pistol. The Bersas have a reputation for quality, reliability, and accuracy.

I have seen prices listed for the Bersa Thunder Pro-9, for around $360.

close to picking up a Bersa .380 thunder concealed carry. I researched all I possibly can and for half the cash, this gun looks like a friggin' solid, reliable steal! I'm in!

I like 'em too!

Haven't heard anything even remotely bad about the Thunder 380, AND.....can be had at my favorite local shop for less than $250 over the counter!

Lessee... with my govt tax treat of about $13.00/week, I should be able to have one in short order !! smile
