Curiuos if you guys run max charged reloads through your 760's? I always work up, and plan to do so, just thinking these would probably function better toned down a tad. Also do you find a SB die necessary, or will standard FL re-sizing get er done. Thanks.

I don't shoot my 760 a lot but I've never had any problems with top book loads, and I use the same old FL dies with the same settiings.

I never ran max loads in my 760. It was more accurate using slightly less than max loads.

Thanks for the responses fellas. IME less than max loads are usually more accurate also, good to know that the option is available though.

My 760 is an 06. I have found that most 06s of any configuration shoot better groups at less than max loadings. I FL resize, using an RCBS die, & have never had a feeding problem. Good luck with your 760. They are really good hunting rifles.

Had a few 760/7600 rifles.With the exception of one all used the standard FL die set.

I can use neck-sized cases in my 760 in 300 Savage. Functions fine and shoots great.

I load for a few 760's in 30-06. I give these guys my 'vanilla' load and it works real well for them. Vanilla = 57 gr of IMR4350 with a 165 gr Hornady Interlock. Death on moose if you hit 'em where they live. One guy has so many one shot kills on moose with that load, when I suggested he may like an update to 168 TSX's he said, "I'll pay you extra to leave everything the way it is right now."

I always full length size ALL my hunting loads for every rifle and action.

Running 57.5gr of H-4350 and 165gr Hornadies in my M760/30-06. That's 1.5gr under most data but it shoots fine. I never went above that charge as it'll do everything I need and chrony's close to 2800fps.

Edit to add that I use small based dies but my Dad (Dave in WV) had the rifle prior to me and used standard FL dies with no problems.

I ran some FL re-sized win brass through mine with 165 hotcor and 57 IMR4350, and also tried 180 Hornady RN with 54 WW760. Both functioned fine. Extraction, etc. didnt seem to be a problem. Gotta get a scope mounted so I can get into some serious load developement.

They'll handle anything a bolt gun will pressure wise.

That said, like others have mentioned best accuracy tends to fall just below book max. I did run some Varget and 748 loads with 130 grain TSX bullets up past 3200 doing work ups looking for speed and accuracy. If you are using a 30-06 look into the Barnes 130 grain TTSXs. They shoot very, very accurately and seem to like 53 grains of Varget for about 3150. That load thumps the snot out of bambi. Also look out for jacking a round into the chamber from the magazine. Doing that with TSXs will damage the hollow point and may affect how the bullet opens when it hits.
