How does the Porter Cable stack up with Bostich in quality and price?

Price wise, not sure. I think it was $199 or $219 for the pack. It was the compressor, brad nailer, 2" finish nailer, 25' air hose, and nails for each gun. It also had all the fittings in the package, you just had to install them.
I bought it in '99, and have used the piss out of it since without a hint of trouble.
The hose that came with it kind of sucks, but I'm still using it. I use the compressor for normal garage duty as well. Filling tires, balls, blowing dust off crap, ect... It would not handle shop air tools real well, but that isn't what it was made for either. It is just the pancake type compressor. It will fill up 1 truck tire, before it needs to refill.
I would buy another. My step dad owns a cabinet shop in Superior, and he has about 4 of these kits. 1 in his job trailer, 1 at home, 1 in the doors and draws shop, and one in the regular shop. I bought this one based on his suggestion.
I did borrow a Bostich Framing nailer to stud up the basement, and had no problems with that either.

T My wife and I went to Newfoundland and collected a moose and caribou. It was a great float plane trip into the camp and we saw lots of game. The horns are not as big as on The Alaskan Moose but it was still a great trip. The meat was excellent. We went with Portland Creek Outfitters and I hope to go back again.

Thanks,
Not really after a mega set of horns. Just a cool hunt, decent rack. To me that is my dream trophy. The moose hunt itself.

I've had good luck with the two paslodes I have. Expensive they are , but , not dragging around that dang air hose , carrying a compressor around , generator when at camp , plus the space for all that stuff , I feel mine have repaid the extra for themselves many times over.

Did I mention that you don't have to drag that dang air hose wherever you go ? Insert batt and nails and go , when done put it all back into that little brief case thing and you are done. Ease of setup and take down goes a long ways for getting home projects started and finished . YMMV

I just went and checked those paslodes on line. Those really would be the ticket wouldn't they? But Holy Bats! They know what they want for them suckers too!

Exactly what I'm saying Rooster. They are great, and quality built tools, but $400 is $400.

No hose would be a big help if, like me, you dream of a treetop bridge system from camp to stand

The main reason I want one is for goofing around at camp. Somehow I'd have to slip it by the Mrs. by justifing in for the house some way or another.

I got my paslode cordless framer/sheeter years ago when we built our house. think i got it in 99. I love that thing, it's been dropped from rafter height to the concrete below more times than I'd care to admit, I've shot boxes & boxes of nails with it. Very good units. No hose would be a big help if, like me, you dream of a treetop bridge system from camp to stand now you're talking

Tzone, Moose and Canadian whitetails are on my list also. I gathered a pile of info on Newfoundland, Quebec and Ontario at the show. That might be next (just after the cruise with the wife! Gotta CMA, ya know?).
Ron
Dave, You might not want to let the Mrs. see that little note on the cruise, ya know what I mean? Sorry if I put you in a bad place. After all, you haven't even started digging the foundation for the addition yet!

Ray, just saw a show on moose hunting in Newfoundland last week. I believe they made the claim that Newfoundland had the highest moose population in all of Canada.

Or better yet a zip line across the swamp to avoid the squid and get better angles on the flying bears. Best use cable to keep the leopard squirrels at bay.
