Lets just say I'm pretty happy with it. Still has the factory trigger in it which is junk but it still shot pretty good. I put an Armalite mount with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 on top of it.

Looks like an all around winner to me. I am glad to see they went with a lighter profile barrel on these. It really makes sense. Bull barrels on ARs are a pain in the arse to carry in the field. Been there and won't do it again.

I have the same gun, witha a 2.8x8 Leopold VX3 on it. SO far it shoots whatever I put in it. 40 grain BT with Varget-.464 center to center groups. 40 grain Varminator about the same. 45 grain Sierra spitzer , about .620 groups, all 3 shot groups at 100 yards. the 55 grain Sierra HPBT shot 6 into .636.
I am gonna try and shoot the Sierra 55 grain Spitzer BT for coyotes, will try to see how they group this weekend.
At 200 yards, the factory trigger while good enough at 100, begins to show that the trigger pull is too much. It only shot about 1.7 inch 3 shot groups at 200. The low power scope hurts the effort some also.
I have tried BLC-2, now shooting TAC,tried Varget,and 748. All shot very well. No malfunctions of any kind. Also gonna shoot over the chrono this weekend hopefully but the weather doesnt look too good. Just got my new Fury so that will take up some time also!

IMHO scope power doesn't hurt groups that much and neither does trigger pull, I'll bet its ammo or conditions more so... IE lots of ammo can be good at 100, but you have to start tweaking to get great at 200 and beyond.... Just an observation and not a negative intended one at that.

Scope wise, I can generally shoot .5 to .75 moa groups with iron sights at 600 yards with a sling and not off a bench... 8x is plenty to do better than you are. And then to assume that a .6 inch group at 100 is going to be 1.2 at 200... that doesn't mean a thing.. .heck I've got ammo that shoots 3 inches at 300 which sucks but shoots 3.5 to 4 at 600.... and thats good for irons...

The trigger pull on mine was pretty good, but I put a jard in it last week and now its 3 lbs with a fuzz take up. Wasn't sure how I would like it, but now I love it. Mine shoots everything around and inch, mostly under. It likes the 70 gr Speers. Deer are equally impressed.

Damn, that thing shoots as good as it looks. I'd say ya got a keeper, maybe do some work to the trigger or replace it and your GTG.

For YOTES try 25.0 of Hodgdons benchmark powder and a 60 gr V-Max. It shoots then lights out in my R-15 22 incher.

Wow, I am impressed. Shooting .5 MOA is the equivalent of the X-ring in F-class, which means 3 inches at 600 yards. I have seen a couple of cleans at 600, but that's with F-Open rifles in exotic calibers, high magnification scopes and ammo assembled in clean room environments. Shooting .5 to .75 MOA with open sights is quite a feat. The sling shooters, even the high masters have trouble staying reliably inside their 2 MOA 10-ring. Mind you, they come close with scores in the high 190s, but cleans are extremely rare on these 2 MOA targets.

I'm just a lowly F-class Master and at 600 yards, my scores are usually good enough to win F-TR class, but they are not cleans, they are usually in the low 190s, which translates to about 1.1 to 1.3 MOA for 20 round groups. It is true that I sometimes get a run of 10s and Xs (1.0 MOA), but there's always a 9 waiting to come up and keep me honest. At 300 yards I can do a little better, closer to 1.0 - 1.1 MOA; I even had a run of sixteen 10s and Xs running at the last match and I dropped one out the side a 3 o'clock. The last 2 were back in the 10-ring. The 300 yard 10-ring is a little smaller than 1.0 MOA, 2.85 inches to be exact.

Cleans are a little more frequent at 300 yards, but they certainly are not the norm in F-class. The sling shooters get great results on their SR-1 targets with the 2 MOA 10-ring and I have seen some of the High Masters get close to a clean. So you can understand my awe at your performance. I hope to shoot alongside you one of these days; I'm always looking to learn more.

I live in remote SW Montana and the nearest shop with any chance of having one of these is 145 miles south of me or 105 miles north.

Thanks VarmintGuy, I am very happy with how it shot. I paid $1249 for it. It was a little on the high side but in stock here in Alamogordo. So I bought it. I cant say I have buyers remorse I'm pretty happy with it.

Just an additional comment; when I tested that rifle for a magazine review last year, I found the trigger to be less than satisfactory. It had a tendency to act as a two-stage trigger at times and a single-stage trigger at other times. Granted the review rifle had made the rounds of other gun scribes before it got to me, but I still thought the trigger was crap. The rest of the rifle was absolutely fine. If you get a good trigger for it, you will be very pleased.

Great feed pack, I been thinking about buying one. As far as trigger jobs and glass go's, trigger jobs help you from pulling off target and high power glass will let you see better. Not taking away from the open sight's shooters who do well with stock triggers.

to the 600 yard bug shooter...

where does one get sub min of angle long range open sights ?????
even the best verniers are angle of milk jug at that distance at the very best...

wooo hooo! you guys should see the other rt15 in 223 that showed up at the shop today.. its friggin freakin awesome.. the stock and forend are adv. green camo but the receiver is od green, and the stainless barrel is TRIANGULAR !! insane @ $1450

yea..i think the trigger is really the low point as far as quality on these guns.. but since they are made by bushmaster one can stik in a bushy 2 stage kit..

FTR Shooter, the comment you commented on was directed at my statement about 1/2 MOA at 100 then about 1.7 inch groups at 200.
My R-15 shoots better than I would have thought. His comments about scope magnification and trigger pull showed his lack of experience with precision shooting! But he was trying to be helpful.
