and I mean more than average. And, no, I don't live on a dirt road....or next to cultivated fields.
We've got a supposed high tech washable filter in our HVAC system that obviously doesn't get the job done.
Anyone got any ideas on how to improve it or set up some kind of electrostatic system or something for semi-reasonable dollars? I think my son has a persistent cough in the spring as a result of allergies/pollen. Doesn't really bother him, but it bothers me. I'm a LOOOOOOONG ways from a clean house fanatic but this is more than I can stand. Any reasonable suggestions will be appreciated. TIA CAT

I just noticed some dust in my office. Send her on over

I am in full approval of your equipment suggestion. I am certain that would solve the dirty house problem. One cleaning session with her would cost me the house if my wife found out. Nevertheless, some further research needs to be done. Send me more particulars and I will see if the equipment (hers or mine, not sure ) is up to the job requirements.

The problem with many of the filtration systems are that the dust doesn't actually circulate through you HVAC system. In our experience the washable type filters (especially the 1") are nearly worthless. We recommend inch pleated filters. They will trap almost all the dust that does make it through the system.
We are beginning to install UV germicidal lights in the HVAC systems we install. They tend to kill all types of mold, algae, viruses and bacteria that are circulated through your system. I have got them in the HVAC systems in my house.

Sorry about that, you didn't mention anything about a wife, only you and your son. Otherwise, it's a good remedy for whatever ails you; just take one and go to bed.
With a wife on the scene I must remind you of what you normally have in your sig, but neglected to include in your last post:

My wife would appreciate any info you have on filters keeping a dust free house! We have a Trion CRM 1400 capacity filter attached to our forced air system. We thought this would do the job. Wrong! We have a log home and recently had it chinked inside and out and thought that would solve the dust problem. Wrong! My wife is a clean freak and she is pulling her hair out "and mine" because of all the dust and dirt inside our house. Any suggestions? Virgil,
Yeah, I can help you out. Give me a call and I'll sell you a package to build a Timberframe so you can move out of the dusty old log cabin. No chinking required! - Bob

We have that problem, too, during break up. The way we (I) dealt with it is to establish a firm rule. NO DATING the dust. You can draw in it and leave messages but absolutely no dates. Oh, by the way, for the 'must misunderstand' folks, that means day and month.
On second thought, if you leave off the year, it might work okay. batch

We had our house build with built-in hepa filters. These are on top of the air conditioning/heading units. It seems to do a pretty good job as long as we run the air conditioning.
