Just a quick query regarding the Winchester Model 70 Classic FWT in .243W, what is the magazine length?
If someone with one could give me an accurate measurement, and let me know if there is a spacer or not, I would be very grateful!
Thank you.
Peter

Thanks Redneck, sorry I should have been more specific, I was after the internal length. Is the spacer easily removable?
Thanks.

Internal length is 3 7/16"... It can be removed, but why? Cheaper/easier to obtain a different magazine.. Second, you'll need a different follower also.. Those little hummers are spendy..

Thanks Redneck, I am still learning about these things. So Winchester use a long action magazine with a spacer on the short action rifles? I only have experience of my Sako in .243, which has a very short magazine, matched to the action length, it is barely long enough for the cartridge. I basically wanted to know whether there was space in the magazine to run a COAL of 2.8", in case I decide to re-barrel a rifle I currently have my eye on . Especially since the COAL of the .243 is only 2.71" according to here: http://www.norma.cc/content.asp?Typ...brik=Calibers&Title=243%20WinchesterLooks like there is enough length then. Thanks.

I just realized I measured the wrong magazine.. The one I had was for the PF action.. The Classic action (S/A, Std. cal.) uses a magazine that's 3.180" ext., 2.860" int.., part number U353071090.
My apologies.. According to the Winchester parts catalog, this is the proper magazine..

Thanks again Redneck, looks like there will be no probs with the OAL then. Now I just gotta go through the bureaucratic nightmare that buying a firearm involves over here.
